Scott Ealy, 54, is an independent-minded and experienced trial attorney who has practiced law in South-Central Illinois for more than 20-years.

He recently served as First Assistant State’s Attorney of Effingham County before deciding upon a return to private practice.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Scott served as an aide to then Secretary of State Jim Edgar, who proceeded on to become Governor of Illinois.

Scott previously worked as a state capitol news reporter, covering daily legislative and executive branch activity, as well as - occasionally - the workings of the Illinois Supreme Court.

In 1992, Scott Ealy provided national coverage of Mississippi Supreme Court oral arguments in the case of People v. de la Beckwith for the CBS Radio Network.  (In 1994, the defendant was convicted of the 1963 murder of civil rights leader Medgar Evers).
