If umpires or groundskeepers needed our tithe
Obligingly we could comply
But paying for no service makes us all writhe
And struggle to understand why.
For years we obediently sent in the fees
Collected from out-of-town players
It seemed only fair that they not play for free
And contribute like local taxpayers.
Regrettably, we now disband our fine troup
And move on to other endeavors
Principles, beneath which we must never stoop
Give us no choice whatsoever
